Michigan Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Job Description:

Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Location: Michigan.
Employment Type: Full-time/Part-time.
Reports To: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Manager, or Clinical Supervisor.

Position Summary:
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Michigan provides direct nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The LPN assists in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate patient care across various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and home health environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
  • Provide basic nursing care according to the Michigan Public Health Code and facility policies.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration).
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, topical) within LPN scope of practice.
  • Assist patients with mobility, bathing, feeding, toileting, and other activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Observe patients and report changes in condition to supervising RN or provider.

Clinical Duties:
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, and specimen collection.
  • Prepare and administer injections and immunizations.
  • Assist with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures.
  • Document patient care accurately in electronic health records (EHR).

Coordination & Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Provide health education and reinforce care instructions.
  • Participate in care planning and quality-improvement activities.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow infection-control protocols and universal precautions.
  • Comply with all Michigan Board of Nursing regulations and facility policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).

Qualifications:
  • Active Michigan LPN license in good standing.
  • Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (required).
  • Experience in clinical or long-term care settings (preferred but not always required).
  • Ability to lift, move, or assist patients as needed.

  • Strong clinical assessment skills within LPN scope.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced or high-stress environments.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).

Work Environment:
  • May involve standing, lifting, and extended periods of walking.
  • Work may occur in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, clinics, or patient homes.
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on employer needs.
